Qualitative research is not part of statistical analysis. That’s because the results can’t be tested to see if they are (i.e. to see if the results could have occurred by chance). As a result, findings can’t be extended to a wider population. That doesn’t mean this type of research is useless: in many studies, getting hard numbers is inappropriate or just impossible.
Following anoverview of the reform program and the objectives of the evaluation, theauthor discusses the quantitative and qualitative techniques utilized inthe study, sampling issues, and the sequence of activities.
E-tivity- Qualitative versus Quantitative Research
The main difference between quantitative or qualitative data analysis is that quantitative deals with numbers and qualitative deals with text. There are, however, many more subtle differences, including:

The use of statistical sampling procedures can help to ensure that theresults of case study research and other qualitative methods can be generalized, thereby increasing the likelihood that the findings will be accepted andused by quantitatively oriented policy makers and planners (see Chapters4,5,6,7, and 8 for alternative ways in which researchers tried to ensurethe generalizability and credibility of their findings).
Test of Hypotheses in QUALITATIVE research - …
In demographic research in particular, there is increasing interestin the effect of culture on demographic outcomes, but conventional quantitativeresearch approaches have not been able to capture the subtleties and complexitiesof culture.
What is the Difference between Quantitative and Qualitative Research?
In many demographic or economic research projects, for example, the study is designed to test hypotheses concerning quantitative relationshipsamong the variables in the model.
Quantitative and Qualitative Research Questions ..
A fully integrated research would draw on the conceptualand analytical frameworks of at least two disciplines in the design, analysis, and interpretation of the research, while at the same time combining abroad range of data collection methodsin most cases including both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Similarly, some economists feel that many qualitatively oriented sociologists andanthropologists are unwilling to give up their skepticism about samplesurvey research findings on subjects such as poverty.
